City removing all election posters

The 2024 National Election period has concluded and the deadline of 18 June 2024 for political parties to remove all election posters from street poles across Cape Town has passed. Since 18 June to date, the City’s contractor has removed 262 election posters. On Monday, 24 June 2024, the City’s Environmental Management Department officials also held a blitz and removed a further 252 election posters. Some 50 posters that have been reported to the department will also be removed as soon as possible. 

Political parties received ample notice that the City would start removing the remaining election posters from Tuesday, 18 June 2024.

The City asks that residents please report election posters that they notice in their neighbourhoods or while driving around Cape Town.

The City has been removing posters all over Cape Town over the past week, but the focus has been on the main routes and scenic drives.

Posters of about 20 different parties have been removed.

Residents may notify the City of any election posters spotted by emailing the specific street location and suburb to Dimitri.georgeades@capetown.gov.za. We will remove these as soon as practically possible.
